Prime And Rustic Grade
Prime grade and rustic grade is a reference to the selection of timber that goes into the worktops. Prime grade means that the staves within the worktop are fairly consistent in colour and free of knots, rustic grade means that the staves will have a variation in colour and will show more character and possibly some knots.

What Is A Stave
Staves are the sections of timber that the worktops are made up from, they are finger jointed and glued together under high pressure, this process creates a very strong and uniform worksurface. |

Worktop Colour Bands
We supply worktops direct from the manufacturer or importer and the worktops offered by these different manufacturers are placed within colour bands to help you differentiate between them, when choosing worktops it is important to bear this in mind, the quality of worktops offered by these different manufacturers are very similar and of a very high standard despite the variation in prices, however because these different manufacturers will be machining on different machinery their size of staves and thickness of timber will vary slightly and therefore should not mixed within the same run of worktops. It would be feasible to mix different manufacturers within the same room if there is a large price advantage in doing so and this is important to you, but not advisable to try to join them together, also bear in mind that these different manufacturers will be sourcing their timber from different countries and slight variations in colour and appearance will exist between them, therefore we would advise that you keep your choice to one single colour band or manufacturer.

Worktop Selection And Sizes
We offer a variety of different manufacturers of worktops who offer a multitude of different size options. It is very unlikely that these sizes will match your exact requirements therefore you will need to plan the optimum configuration of sizes required to meet the length and depth requirements that best suit your kitchen layout.
The exact sizes required will need to be cut from the nearest next largest size worktop.
We would advise that you employ the skills of an experienced kitchen fitter to cut and join your worktops on site. If you would like to tackle this job yourself we have comprehensive fitting instructions found here: Worktop Fitting Guide
